Reading

Reading

Each child will be given one reading book and a reading diary; these books are closely matched to the sounds your child already knows.  The books we are using for this come from our Rocket Phonics scheme and will support your child's reading journey.  The book and diary are to be taken home and brought back to school every day. When children have read with an adult at home, please can an adult write in their reading record with the date, book title and any comments about their reading. When reading with your child, please try to ask them questions about the book they have read, as comprehension skills are very important. Your child’s book will be changed once they can read the whole book fluently (we often say it needs to sound like they are talking). Please encourage your children to read a wide breadth of books; not only their reading book from school.
