Super Singers meet every Monday from 3.30pm until 4.30pm in Class 7. It is a group of keen and enthusiastic children from Year 2 - 6. They sing a wide variety of songs for all seasons and musical styles. They perform in school concerts at the end of each term (along with all performers at Morven Park) and at events and venues around Kirkby in Ashfield. It has a loyal group of followers including parents other children. It is run by Mrs Hague, Miss Halford and Mrs Hallam.
"We started Choir in Year 2. It was on every Wednesday lunchtime. Now we are a bit older we do it after school on a Tuesday. In choir we sing songs and sometimes play instruments. Mr Kirby teaches us songs to sing. At the end of Choir we sometimes play games like 'Concentration' and 'Fuzzy Wuzzy'. We don't just sing and play instruments, we put them together in concerts. All our parents watch us and clap at the end of our songs. We get song words so we can practice at home. We always enjoy coming to Choir. We play lots of different instruments such as triangles, tambourines, drums and different percussion instruments. We play these with a clarinet group who accompany us in the concerts."
By Marie and Hannah - Year 3
Last year the choir was very busy – we visited Kings Mill Hospital, Morrisons, Kirkby Library, the Kirkby Christmas festival as well as performing at the School annual concerts. We invited people from the local care homes to enjoy our concerts in the afternoon and then parents came to the evening one.
This year we are going to be performing at various events so watch this space for dates and details. We are also going to have a special outfit to wear at concerts – hopefully they will be ready by our Christmas concerts.
