In English during the Autumn term, we carry out an in-depth study on 'How to train your dragon' by Cressida Cowell. We are delving into the dangerous dragon caves and completing lots of fun activities and written pieces of work along the way. After half term, we create a poem based on the journey of a river, which links to our geography on The Water Cycle. We also use film clips as a stimulus for our writing during this term.
During the Spring term, we are studying the picture books 'The Rainbow Bear' by Michael Morpurgo and 'Shackleton's Journey' by William Grill. This book is based on the real life expedition of Ernest Shackleton to the South Pole! We will track his journey by creating an Explorer's journal, along with designing and making a torch in DT, to assist him in his adventure.
In the Summer term our learning is based around the brilliant Roald Dahl classic: 'Charlie and the Chocolate factory'. We are living and breathing chocolate and all things sweet in this wonderful world Mr Dahl created. We will be adding our own rotten children characters to the story and designing our very own room in his chocolate factory.
