We are very excited to announce that we have adopted a NEW phonics scheme. It is called 'Rocket Phonics' and it is a DFE validated story based systematic, synthetic phonics programme for Reception and Key Stage One.
As a school, we have invested heavily in this new scheme to ensure that all of our pupils achieve phonic success.
All children will have a ROCKET PHONICS READING BOOK and we ask you to respect and care for the books at home.
Your child will also be provided with a reading diary. It is important to read with your child at least 3 times a week at home (but we encourage you did this every night) and record this in their reading diary. 'Reading miles' with your child will really support their reading development. The more your child reads at home, the further they develop along their reading journey.
You can print the tricky words from this pdf document and play games with them to help your child learn to read them. Games like snap or pairs are lots of fun and can really help the children to recognise the words. You will just need to print out 2 copies of each word to play some of the games.
